Dive in, PG! Aquatic Centre registration starts Monday

The Aquatic Centre will be back up and running on September 8th, with some new restrictions adhering to COVID-19 guidelines.

Prince George residents are being asked to register online or call ahead to book a swimming session, registration starts this Monday at 9 am.

“In terms of aquatics, since the public health update last Monday nothing’s changed,” says Adam Davey, Director of Community Services and Public Safety, “we already have the online registration system that allows us to contact trace if Northern Health needs us to and we already have the maximum limit of 50.”

The registration process includes a self-check-in using a barcode provided online, however, swimmers can call ahead and book with a credit card.

“There are 5 swim blocks for public swimming throughout the day,” explains Jim Worthington, Manager of Aquatics, “it is just public swimming but lanes, the river and the hot tub are open with some restrictions but there are no swimming lessons or Aquafit programs.”

Physical distancing markers, time limits and occupancy limits in different areas are also in place to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

There are multiple water features still open but the Sauna and Steam room, waves and fitness centre will remain closed.

Pool staff are urging swimmers to take precautions such as wearing your bathing suit to the centre to avoid the increased risk of exposure.
