PG Community Foundation continues to Provide Emergency Relief Funding

$53,360 in funding has been awarded to 11 Prince George charitable organizations to help in COVID-19 response efforts.

The funding comes from the virtual Stay-at-Home Gala which took place in May.

“We had a number of entertainers and speakers that presented throughout the evening, and we partnered with Twisted Cork which provided event-attenders to order a meal,” said Mindy Stroet, Director of Development at the Prince George Community Foundation.

Grants up to $5,000 were awarded to support a variety of community initiatives.

Some of them include providing technical services to help patients access medical and support services and providing organizations with access to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Since March, the PGCF has awarded more than $425,000 in emergency funding through the Local Emergency Response Fund and the National Emergency Community Support Fund.

A few of the Emergency Fund Grant recipients are the BC Cancer Foundation, Kidney Foundation and the Prince George Hospice Society.

Stroet added, “One of the things that we’ve heard repeatedly from our community is that, as a result of COVID-19, there are greater demands for a variety of support services.”
