Council could “renovate” how it looks at housing

Maybe we need to do some things differently.

That coming from Councillor Murry Krause as to how council deals with housing in the city after a report from the Community Development Institute.

Krause says one area of improvement is engaging with the development community.

“So rather than it being a separate piece of work, its really sitting down to the table, and working with developers and saying ‘how can you contribute to the provision of affordable and non-market housing in your developments.”

Krause says there could be a new committee or an enhanced committee to work directly with developers.

He says council does agree that there needs to be a wide range of housing in Prince George.
