The 5th annual Climb for Cancer has begun the second and final weekend of the year.
The event has been spread out across two weekends, August 8th-9th and 15th-16th , to maintain social distancing measures.
“In previous years we’ve been able to raise 50 to 60 thousand dollars,” says Doug Bell, Chair for the Climb for Cancer, “this year we put in a more modest goal for 35-thousand and this year every dollar counts because it’s really difficult for most organizations to raise money this year.”
The pandemic hasn’t stopped Prince George residents from showing up and supporting the event, Bell adds, “I think we’ve got a lot of new climbers this year who have been able to show up because it’s not just one day.”
Climb for Cancer supports the Kordyban Lodge, a residence for people fighting Cancer to call home.
Kordyban Lodge also offers many amenities for its residence such as a prosthetic and wig bank.
Registration to climb today (Saturday) and tomorrow is still open, to sign up or make a donation to Climb for Cancer, click here.Â
