He played four seasons in a Cougars uniform and now he’s making a name for himself in the big leagues.
Former Prince George Cougar Jansen Harkins scored his first career NHL playoff goal this morning (August 3), giving Winnipeg a 1-0 lead against the Flames in game two of their qualifiying series.
The Jets went on to win the game 3-2 to tie the best-of-five matchup 1-1.
Harkins was called into the Jets’ lineup after the team lost some firepower; forwards Mark Scheifele and Patrik Laine were placed on injured reserve after the opening game on Saturday.
The 23-year-old, from North Vancouver, is the franchise all-time leader in points (242) and assists (167) in 275 regular-season games.
He was taken by the Jets in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
