Regional District to assess broadband connectivity

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George will work alongside Mackenzie, McBride and Valemount on a coordinated approach to develop a regional strategy to improve internet connectivity.

This following the Regional District’s July 16th Board meeting.

Efforts will be specifically focused on small and rural communities within the Regional District.

An assessment is set to take place, as the Regional District’s Board approved a contract for the engineering company TANEx to conduct a gap analysis of current and future services, with recommendations for areas of focus.

As reliance on internet services grows for both work and entertainment, identifying the levels of service and gaps within the Regional District will aid in further developing improvement plans.

The hope is to improve internet connectivity in the region, and fill any gaps in service.
