McBride union saga could come to close next week

Town of McBride employees will find out next week whether or not they will be able to join a union.
Today was the last day workers had to file their vote of whether or not to join the Christian Labour Association of Canada.
The union has also filed an unfair labour practices motion with the Labour Relations Board because McBride’s Mayor fired an employee John Aitken for meeting with the union.
CLAC Spokesperson Ryan Bruce says the first issue they need to deal with is if Aitken can vote to join the union.
“The Village of McBride is arguing that he’s a manager and would fall outside of the bargaining unit,” says Bruce, “its our interpretation of his role and his job description that he would fall inside of the bargaining unit.”
Bruce says the results of the union vote will be announced once the LRB makes its final decision.
