City of Prince George staff and crews with Prince George Fire and Rescue Services will be watching the Fraser River’s water levels through the weekend.
Estimates from the BC River Forecast Centre indicate the Fraser River running through Prince George is levelling off at about 9.3 metres this afternoon (Friday) although this number is expected to drop through the weekend and into next week.
Yesterday (Thursday) the City notified the BC Government that it has activated its Emergency Operations Centre, although no emergency alerts or orders have been declared.
Earlier this week residents of Farrell Street were warned of the possibility of flooding.
A large section of nearby Paddlewheel Park is underwater and the park has been closed.
Additionally, Hazelton Park and Cottonwood Island Park have closed, along with a section of the Heritage River Trail.
Residents of Farrell Street are being advised to have an emergency kit available in the event of an evacuation order.
