SD57’s school board will consider first and second readings of a balanced school district Annual Budget Bylaw for 2020-21 at tonight’s (Tuesday) board meeting.
Members will also have the opportunity to consider the third and final reading of the Annual Budget Bylaw at this meeting if they unanimously agrees to do so.
If the Annual Budget Bylaw is not adopted tonight, the third and final reading will take place at a special meeting scheduled later in June.
Board members will also consider the 2021-22 Five Year Capital Plan summary, which must be submitted to the Ministry of Education by June 30th.
The top priority in the plan is a $75.3-million replacement project at D.P. Todd Secondary School, intended to address capacity issues in the current building.
A new Board Policy Manual will also be considered for approval. The new Board Policy Manual will contain 21 policies and hopes to replace the 95 existing policies and 4 bylaws in the district.
“It was about a year ago that the Board engaged in a process to review our existing policies with a lens toward making policies more efficient for our schools, staff and community,” said Board Chair Tim Bennett.
