BC Cancer – Prince George has been named the recipient of a $100,000 donation from Scotiabank.
The donation was provided in advance of National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21st), as the Prince George location cares for the highest percentage of Indigenous patients out of all BC Cancer centres.
Scotiabank hopes the money will help support patients in need of accommodation, transportation, grocery gift cards, and precision radiation therapy.
Accommodation and transportation are especially important concerns, as two-thirds of patients treated at the Prince George centre live 10 or more hours away from the facility.
