Update: Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for Prince George has ended

Update 8:00 p.m.

Environment Canada has ended its Severe Thunderstorm watch for P.G.

Earlier story:

Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the Prince George area.

“The conditions are really favourite today for the development of some thunderstorms this afternoon throughout the province, in particular for that region for Prince George and Stuart Nechako,” said Environment Canada Meteorologist Carmen Hartt.

“The conditions are there, but we haven’t seen anything actually materialize yet. If we see the storms actually start developing and know what areas they will affect that is when we will upgrade to a severe thunderstorm warning,” she continued.

These types of storms may also produce strong gusts of wind, hail and heavy rain.

The risk begins in the late afternoon and will end late this evening.

Up-to-date information on the Watch can be found on Environment Canada’s website.
