Regional District awards several grants throughout the community

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George has awarded several grants throughout the Prince George area as apart of their May 21st board meeting.

Among the arts, culture and heritage grants approved:

  • $5,000 to the Prince George Downtown Business Improvement Association for the Downtown Winterfest event
  • $1,500 to the Fraser-Fort George Museum Society (Exploration Place) to support online programming
  • $5,000 to the Prince George Regional Art Gallery Association (Two Rivers Gallery) to support online
    programming
  • $5,000 to the Prince George Symphony Orchestra to commission an anniversary composition
  • $5,000 to the Prince George Folkfest Society to support the Coldsnap music festival in 2021.

However, financial support wasn’t just limited to arts organizations as other community grants were also approved:

  • $1,159 to the Ness Lake Recreation Commission for hockey rink upgrades and ballpark maintenance
  • $11,000 to the Bear Lake Improvement Society for a tourism information kiosk
  • $7,500 to the Summit Lake Community Association insurance, hall maintenance, improvements and
    utilities
  • $2,500 to the BC Parks Foundation for Ancient Forest Story trail signage
  • $25,000 to the Red Rock/Stoner Volunteer Fire Department Society for man door covers

The Regional District also encourages the public to avoid making unnecessary trips to landfills and transfer stations.
