The Canada Winter Games have had no shortage of newsworthy stories – the weather, the medal winners, the closing of the Ice Oval.
Yet the number of volunteers has also been quite a revelation, as over 4500 have taken part, with the local volunteers raving about their experiences and visitors lauding their performance.
This includes David Warrie, who says as a motor pool driver he’s found himself meeting people he would never have guessed..
“You get to talk to people from all over the country, I also met my first real live Greenlander the other day, he actually is here from Greenland with his business partner from Denmark”
Games Volunteers have been slogging through long hours, cold conditions, and dealing with thousands of visitors in a prompt and dependable manner.
