The evacuation order for multiple Upper Mud River Road properties issued over the weekend has been lowered to an alert by the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.
39 properties in the area are affected, however one additional residence remains under an evacuation order.
The district says even though water levels have come down, weather conditions and other factors remain unstable so it’s possible for the water to rise again.
An evacuation alert also remains in effect for 36 properties in the Chilako River area.
“Those in the alert area are asked to prepare in the event that an evacuation is required and take precautions to help prevent damage to their home, property and their personal safety including moving property and equipment to higher ground, moving livestock and pets to safe locations, putting valuables and important documents in watertight containers or to different locations and preparing a 72-hour survival kit,” said spokesperson Renee McCloskey.
The public is also asked to exercise extreme caution near rivers and streams with rising levels.
