Cougar’s Gauthier cracks top 20 in Central Scouting’s final draft rankings

Taylor Gauthier of the Prince George Cougars is 19th among North American goalies in NHL Central Scouting’s final rankings for this year’s Draft.

The 19-year-old is coming off a record season, setting a career-high with 16 wins, a 2.93 GAA and .917 save percentage.

He also earned two shutouts.

He led the WHL in minutes played and was tied for the most games played at 50.

The Calgary, AB product was second in the WHL in shots faced and saves.

Gauthier has played in 137 career regular-season games, posting 39 wins and owns a 3.28 GAA and a .903 SV%, to go along with five shutouts.

The southpaw goaltender was drafted by the Cougars in the first round, 10th overall, in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.

He climbed up eight spots from his midseason ranking of 27th.
