BC’s Finance Minister is promising good news in today’s budget announcement.
Mike deJong says he will table a balanced budget, the third straight for the province.
He says it’s thanks to the fact that BC isn’t as reliant on a single commodity or sector as other provinces.
“We’re nowhere near as reliant as most other provinces a single market, it’s something British Columbians should be very proud of,” he says.

deJong says the province will be paying down a chunk of its debt and give relief to low-income families thanks to a larger-than-expected surplus.
The budget is expected to come out around 1:30 this afternoon.
