The highway reopened at 8:45 pm after six-vehicle accidents in the area.
Corporal Madonna Saunderson said the weather was an ‘extreme factor’ and the area was experiencing white-out conditions for most of the day.

Crews are responding to another vehicle crash 12km west of Bednesti.
According to a witness, the crash involved a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle near Haynes road.
Traffic is down to one lane only.
This is close to the site of a crash earlier today in the same area— a 2 vehicle accident that is now cleared.
