2020 CHL playoffs and Memorial Cup cancelled

The Canadian Hockey League, Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League have officially cancelled this year’s post-season.

Additionally, the 2020 Memorial Cup, scheduled to be held in Kelowna from May 22-31, has also been cancelled.

This comes after the March 12 decision to pause the season, and last week’s choice to cancel all remaining regular-season games.

“We have continued to monitor the latest updates and advice from all public health agencies and medical experts, and worked tirelessly to determine a scenario by which the balance of our season could be played,” said the League in a release.

“Unfortunately, given the troubling state of our global climate and public welfare, there is still too much risk and uncertainty to move forward in good conscience. ”

Next year’s championships will be hosted by the OHL in May of 2021.
