The Prince George Community Foundation has donated a total of $60,000 to lend support to several community organizations due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
$25,000 will be given to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank, $25,000 to the Salvation Army Food Bank and $10,000 to the United Way of Northern BC for its new COVID-19 Response Fund.
The response fund was created by UWNBC for seniors, those struggling with mental health and addictions, and those needing food supports.
“We are reaching out to community partners across Northern BC to collect information on emerging needs and to share information, and resources so we can come together to do whatever we can to help,” said Trista Spencer, Executive Director, UWNBC.
The money will go towards dealing with seniors’ isolation, food security, volunteer support, mental health and addiction services, and other community services.
“Agencies and their clients, the most vulnerable in our communities, need us more right now than ever. We are hoping the COVID-19 Relief Fund we have enabled will give people the opportunity to help in this crisis, getting direct assistance out as rapidly as possible to the people of Northern BC.”
