PG Taxi offering to waive nightly dispatch fee for sick drivers

As measures to stop the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic are implemented across the country, Prince George Taxi is encouraging any drivers who might be sick or feeling ill in any way to avoid coming to work.

The company says if a driver is sick and unable to get the shift filled, they will waive the nightly dispatch fee as an extra incentive to keep sicknesses from spreading.

“We do have spare drivers to try and fill in shifts, up until now we have been able to cover them,” said General Manager Sam Kuuluvainen.

He explained the company is mainly focused on prevention currently.

“I have been doing this since maybe 1985, and I cannot remember any pandemic of this nature,”

Since the cars are owned by individuals there are no mass car washes, instead, it is up to the owner.

However, he says the company sends out reminders approximately every four hours to drivers asking them to clean ‘high touch’ areas such as door handles, arm wrests, and seats.

Kuluuvainen noted that while hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes may be in short supply, he has asked his drivers to keep an eye out and have it in their vehicles.
