CWG announces Opening Ceremony details

We are just days away from the Opening Ceremonies to kick off the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

Over 180 performers will pack in CN Centre, highlighting local talent.

The Lheidli T’enneh, Official Host First Nation will play a prominent role in the ceremony, while BC’s-own Dear Rouge, and local bands Bright City Heights, and Black Spruce Bog will play a concert.

High-ranking government officials are scheduled to attend, along with the contemporary dance talents of Tristan Ghostkeeper.

“It’s fitting that the event is being held during Prince George’s 100th Anniversary year,” Mayor Lyn Hall says. “CN Centre has been the site of so many memorable events and and performances in the history of our city and, just next door. is the redesigned Kin-1 Arena. one of the many lasting legacies of these games.”

Two-time Paralympic Medallist in Wheelchair Basketball is PG’s-own Bo Hedges, who won silver in 2003 and 2008 Canada Games, and gold in 2012 will be one of the flag-bearers.

The ceremony will be broadcast on TSN & RDS Friday, February 13th and 7 p.m..
