It’s been back-to-back years of record-breaking growth for Prince George according to the City.
After a busy 2018, the city maintained momentum moving through last year.
Mayor Lyn Hall said this is a positive sign for the city.
“It’s one of the main tests we use for economic growth.”
2018 saw over $186 million dollars of new building permits, a record-high at that time, while 2019 saw over $223 million dollars reached.
93% of that total can be attributed to private-sector investment.
Furthermore, the number of multi-family permits more than doubled, as the number of permits shifted from 33% to 72%.
“I don’t know if we’ll see $220+ million dollars of development, but all the signs look good. I’m very positive about 2020 and 2021,” Hall added.
Among the biggest building permits: a student housing development, a fire hall, and a hotel.
