The Vice President of the BC Nurses’ Union is shocked by overcrowding she’s seen at the University Hospital of Northern BC.
Christine Sorensen toured the hospital this week and says “I was absolutely appalled at the conditions. Nurses were trying to provide patient care in what some have describe as a ‘M.A.S.H. unit’.”
Sorensen says she saw one patient who spent seven days in a hallway next to the ambulance and RCMP entry door and other patients moved into a room that was supposed to be reserved for possible Ebola cases.
BCNU President Gayle Duteil calls this a BC-wide problem, with few nurses dealing with more and more patients.
