Driving an electric car in BC may be getting a little easier.
The “Charge North” initiative is looking to bring 47 new Level 2 charging stations to 26 communities throughout the province.
This change will ease accessibility concerns within northern communities for those who have already made the switch to electric.
Northern Development Initiatives Trust has offered $192,000 as apart of the Strategic Initiatives Fund to support the project.
The Regional District of Fraser Fort-George has submitted the application and will be working with other local governments and First Nations.
11 of the 47 total stations will be located in Prince George.
The Community Energy Association, an independent organization, will be managing the overall efforts.
There is currently no time-frame provided for charging station installations.
A complete list of communities and stations is available online.
