Last night (Friday) over 2,100 hockey fans gathered in the Prince George CN Centre to watch the Cougar’s first official pride night.
President of the Prince George Pride Society, Susan Trabant, said that the organization was pleased with the results.
“Everyone seemed to be in great spirits, many of the hockey players had rainbow tape on their sticks and there were lots of rainbow flags throughout the arena.”
Trabant expressed excitement over the event and explained that the Pride Society may even reach out to other local teams.
“We would love to make this an annual event for every January, although we wish there were Cougars games in July during pride week.”
The Cougars won the game 4-3 against the Everett Silvertips.
