Prince George residents may have noticed it was warmer than normal in December.
According to Environment Canada Meteorologist Bobby Sehkon, the average temperature for the month was minus 5.4, almost two-degrees warmer than normal.
He explained 2019 as a whole was colder and slightly drier than usual, as Prince George’s yearly average temperature fell by almost one-degree, from the previous average of just over 4.
The city also didn’t see as much rain in 2019 compared to previous years.
“PG received about 89 percent of the normal precipitation. About ten and a half percent less than normal. That ranked as the 19th driest season in Prince George.”
Sehkon noted February 2019 was the coldest February on record at minus 17.5, compared to a meager minus 5 average in previous years.
He also cited March as the driest month of 2019 and the third driest March ever, with only 8.5 millimeters of rain.
