Tomorrow (Friday), the Prince George Cougars will host their first-ever pride night as they face off against the Everett Silvertips.
According to Prince George Pride Society’s President, Susan Trabant, this is the first pride night held at the WHL level.
“I don’t doubt for a second that there are people within the hockey leagues, the BCHL, the WHL, the NHL, that identify as being gay but are just not ‘out’,” Trabant explained.
Prince George’s Pride Society hopes to potentially change the environment and culture of hockey through these types of events.
The occasion will focus heavily on youth involvement from both LGBTQ+ and allies.
The game will start at 7 P.M. at the CN Centre in Prince George.
