PG’s Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society wins peace award

Prince George’s own Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society (IMSS) recently won an International Peace Award for Promoting Diversity and Multiculturalism within the community.

The International Peace Awards, which are hosted in Ontario, see 700 nominees from across Canada, of which 125 are shortlisted for 25 categories.

The Executive Director of IMSS, Ravi Saxena, explained that both the nomination and win came as pleasant a surprise to the organization.

“It gives us a lot of courage to move forward,” Saxena said, before adding “we have been recognized on the national level, and that is a huge thing.”
