MP Bob Zimmer looks to serve the North in 2020

Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies MP Bob Zimmer is preparing for the upcoming year, following one marked by unprecedented local support.

“I’m very thankful for the support that we’ve had. 70% for me is a record and I can’t be happier,” Zimmer remarked in a moment of reflection.

However, this past year was not all smooth sailing for Conservatives within the region, as Zimmer explained: “we’re definitely into some deep waters when it comes to different industries, forestry specifically,” continuing that “there’s a lot of problems with our resources in various ways, and it’s my job to try and remedy that.”

Moving forward into 2020, Zimmer explained he’s excited to fulfil his role as Shadow Minister for Northern Affairs and Northern Economic Development Agency, which was announced earlier this year.

Zimmer also said he hopes the Peace River Bridge update will be completed this year, as the project is currently slated to be wrapped up by October 2020, according to the Town of Peace River.

He stressed the importance of the project for the entire region, as the bridge “connects the South to the North,” and is currently in a state of ” disrepair”.
