Mayor not concerned about PG’s population dip

Prince George’s Mayor isn’t concerned over a new report that says the city’s population has shrunk.

According to a BC Stats report, PG lost 637 people in 2014 to a population 73,590.

However, Mayor Lyn Hall expects the population to rebound like it has for areas like Williams Lake and the Peace River, last year.

“I think we’re going to see skilled labour, not only move back into Prince George for those that have gone on to Alberta to work, I think there’s going to be more employment here which will increase our population,” he says.

Hall says the city needs to provide a foundation to make people invest in Prince George at all levels to create employment.

He also singles out the student population as a key component to raising the city’s overall community numbers.
