The University Hospital of Northern British Columbia had a special visitor this morning (Wednesday).
Santa Claus, with gifts in hand, paid a surprise visit to the Pediatric Care Unit.
Sandra Wyatt, Child Life Specialist at the hospital, emphasized the importance of lifting spirits before the holidays.
“We try to incorporate Santa coming in to make sure children don’t feel they’ve been forgotten, especially if they stay through Christmas.”
The children did not expect to see Mr. Claus.
“We don’t tell them when Santa is coming, because Santa makes surprise visits.”
Seven children received face-to-face visits, while a few others were only able to receive gifts.
