Stricter provincial hunting regulations proposed for 2020-2022

The BC government is looking to impose new hunting regulations over the next three years.

Some of the proposed changes include the prohibition of using aircraft to locate animals for hunting and a ban on infrared scopes.

Government officials hope to limit the types of weapons that can be used to hunt big game, as only Bison-hunting currently faces any weapon restrictions.

The proposed big game rules will ban the use of slingshots, spears, bolas, and blowguns when hunting large animals.

An official statement cites wildlife conservation and sustainable hunting practices as the reasons for the changes.
