UNBC gets funding, brings commemorative art piece to campus

An internationally recognized, local artist and a team of faculty members from UNBC will finally be able to bring a new permanent art piece to campus.

Artist Betty Kovacic and three other team members came together to bring the two paintings to life after $10,000 in funding was awarded.

Kovacic says the piece recognizes several things about UNBC and its journey to become a University:

“The growth the changes that have involved, the various communities that are involved and of course the path that UNBC and the students in our community have taken in terms of making a dream a reality”

The two paintings will be linked by a piece of fused glass artwork, which will create a metaphor for the journey of discovery.

The pieces will be unveiled at UNBC’s 25th anniversary Community celebration on June the 20th.
