The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) has received 4.2 million of the $100 million allocated by the federal government as apart of the Northern Capital and Planning Grant.
Earlier this year the provincial government announced the 100 million dollar program, which looks to fund the infrastructure and long-term planning of four regional districts and their 22 municipalities.
The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George was the recipient of just over 4.2 million dollars in funding according to an official news release.
“This funding will go a long way in helping us maintain and improve the infrastructure we have, enhancing the livability of our rural communities within the Fraser-Fort George region,” says RDFFG Chair Art Kaehn, who has been re-elected for another term.
The money will be split among numerous projects including long-term planning initiatives, emergency services infrastructure, rural asset management, and climate change mitigation.
A majority of the funding will be spent improving and managing existing recreation centres, community halls, regional parks and fire halls.
