Vaccine debate not affecting PG’s flu shot supply

Despite a hot debate over whether or not you should should get vaccinated against the flu, Northern Health isn’t seeing any change in the number of shots they are giving out.

Communicable Disease Manager Carolyn Bouchard says their flu shot supply is sitting at the same it was this time, least year.

However, she points out that the current H3N2 strain of the virus has mutated beyond what their vaccine can handle, but assures it’s still better than nothing.

“Because the virus, in true virus fashion, has mutated,” Bouchard says.
