‘A real mess of conditions,’: Environment Canada calls for freezing rain

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain alert for both Prince George, the Bulkley Valley, and the Pine Pass.

“It’s a real mess of conditions that we’re seeing,” said Environment Canada Meteorologist Trevor Smith. “Starting this afternoon (Mon) we expect to see snow and freezing rain and ice pellets. The concern with the freezing rain, of course, is slippery road conditions, slippery sidewalks, so be super careful if you’re driving or walking around.”

He said the freezing rain shouldn’t last too long.

“As we get into Tuesday there could still be some freezing rain or snow around in the morning but we’re going to warm up by Tuesday afternoon as we get a milder south wind coming up. We should see highs of plus four by then and hopefully a bit of a melt of all the mess that we saw.”
