Winter has returned to Northern BC.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Matt MacDonald says a decent low pressure system is moving through the region.
“We’ve seen heavy bands move through the area this morning,” says McDonald, “upwards of 2-3 centimetres an hour, and that’s quite heavy snow and we are in for a few more hours of it.”
McDonald says around 15 centimetres could fall by the end of the day.
Meanwhile, North District Corporal Madonna Saunderson says plows are out on the road clearing the snow.
“I’ve been told because of the condition of the temperatures, road salt is not effective and won’t be used, they will continue plowing and sanding.”
Saunderson strongly encourages motorists to drive to conditions and if you don’t need to be out on the roads, don’t go out.
