New grant funding for healthier Northern Communities

New Grant funding from Northern Health, in partnership with local governments – aims to improve the overall well being of those living in Northern Communities.

The Healthy Community Grants have been set up in two separate streams, one for existing and established healthy living committees and one for new committees.

Sabrina Dosanjh-Gantner is the lead for community development with Northern Health – and she says the grants also support the identification of local risk factors and the development of local solutions:

“… so that community partnerships between Northern Health, local governments and other community organizations determine what is affecting the health of the community and how can we work better together to address that and build on initiatives to support healthier communities”

The grants are for $20,000 and $7500 respectively, and should broadly impact the local community in a positive way – through healthy families, workplaces, schools, or public policies.
