The City of Prince George spent far more on snow removal costs in 2014 than they had previously planned.
Director of Public Works Gina Layte-Liston says the budget for 2014 was $5.8 million, yet once it was all said and done they had spent $6.45 million.
She also had this to say:
“It’s important to remember that our snow budget runs for all of 2014, so it takes in January to March last winter season, and then this winter season so the October to December time”
Liston says 2015 will see an increased budget of around $6.3 million, and mentioned milder weather conditions have made it more difficult to determine how much snow there will be.
