Councillor Garth Frizzel is lobbying the federal government for more affordable housing in Prince George.
City council gave full support at Monday night’s meeting, passing a resolution calling for a long-term housing plan that ensures a healthy stock of affordable housing.
Frizzel says there are challenges in creating housing in the city as the feds phase out programs.
City staff say PG’s vacancy rate sits under two per-cent, which is a common low around Northern BC, as Frizzel says more workers are moving in to apartments while they work on various industrial projects.
