Prince George’s Ride to Conquer Cancer Team, better known as the Wheelin Warriors of the North continue to raise funds for the BC Cancer Foundation.
On Thursday, they received a 4-thousand dollar contribution from Cariboo Rocks the North, Waste Management, and the PG Recycling and Return-It Centre putting their 2019 total to about 212-thousand dollars.
Co-captain, Ron Gallo told MyPGNow.com since their inception back in 2013, they are seeing more money being reinvested into our region.
“The money that’s raised here is now staying here and in the seven years leading up to this date I can tell you that we are seeing the money trickle into Prince George but now it’s flowing into Prince George from the BC Cancer Foundation and that’s significant.”
“Every year, the Wheelin Warriors have been a bigger, stronger team and the fundraising has shown that. The fundraising has been growing every year as well, this contribution puts us at $212,000 for the 2019 ride that happened at the end of August.”
He adds fundraising has already started for 2020 with one of their main goals is to reach the one million dollar mark in money raised.
At the end of August, the riding group was recognized at City Hall by both Mayor Lyn Hall and city council.
The BC Cancer Centre for the North is located at 1215 Lethbridge Street.
