Prince George RCMP gets a new boss

The Prince George RCMP are welcoming a new officer in charge of the detachment.

On Wednesday, Inspector Shaun Wright was promoted to the rank of Superintendent as the new officer in charge of the City of Prince George Municipal Detachment.

Superintendent Wright has been the Operations Officer since late 2016.  He has 23 years of service with the RCMP, with the majority being in the Lower Mainland

“His first post with the RCMP was to the City of Surrey, where he gained experience in various units within the detachment, including Frontline Policing, the Gang Enforcement Team and the General Investigations Section.  He was then posted to Mission Detachment as the Operations Support NCO and then to BC RCMP Headquarters (E Division) in the Professional Responsibility Unit, before his transfer to Prince George,” said Corporal Craig Douglass in a media release.

Wright said working with the city has been very rewarding so far.

“I am proud of the excellent work that is presently being done by the men and women who work at the Prince George City Detachment and look forward to further improving public safety and making Prince George an even greater community to live in.”

The previous officer in charge, Superintendent Warren Brown was transferred to the North District RCMP (Provincial) and is currently the Acting District Commander for Northern BC.
