The Everett Silvertips extended their win streak to five games with a 6-1 victory over the Prince George Cougars before 2,315 fans. The US Division leading Silvertips tallied three times on the power play as they enjoyed period leads of 1-0 and 3-0. Each of the last eight Everett wins have been by more than one goal. The 20-25-1-1 Cougars have dropped six straight but remain third in the BC Division, two points ahead of Vancouver and four in front of Kamloops. Vancouver lost 4-3 in Kootenay. The Cougars and Silvertips are 1-1 in their season series with another meeting between the two teams tonight at CN Centre as the Cats conclude a four game home-stand.
–Four Prince George Cougars are among 51 WHL players rated by  Central Scouting in its Midterm Rankings for the 2015 NHL Draft. The Cougars leading scorer, Jansen Harkins, is ranked 18th among North American skaters. Jared Bethune is listed 101st, Tate Olson is 106th and Brad Morrison is 150th. Harkins is in St.Catharines, Ontario for the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on Thursday.
–The PG Spruce Kings resume play Thursday and Friday when they host the Surrey Eagles.
–The Major Midget leading Cariboo Cougars are back on the road this weekend when they visit the Valley West Hawks Saturday and Sunday in Richmond.
–Patti Knezevic of Prince George is one of eight teams at the Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship at the Golden Ears Winter Club in Maple Ridge. The triple knockout competition, with a page playoff, begins tonight.
–The UNBC Timberwolves resume Canada West basketball league play when they visit Mount Royal Friday and Saturday in Calgary.
