Four Prince George Cougars are listed in today’s Central Scouting Midterm Rankings for the 2015 NHL Draft. The Cougars leading scorer, Jansen Harkins, is ranked 18th among North American skaters.  Cougars forward Jared Bethune is listed 101st, defenceman Tate Olson is 106th and forward Brad Morrison 150th. Harkins is in St.Catharines, Ontario for the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on Thursday.

–The PG Cougars try to end a five game losing streak when they host the US Division leading Everett Silvertips tonight and Wednesday.

–PG Spruce Kings forward Brogan O’Brien will participate in the CJHL Prospects Game tonight in Oakville, Ontario. O’Brien is one of 12 BCHL players that will suit up for Team West.

–The PG Spruce Kings host the last place Surrey Eagles Thursday and Friday.

–The Philadelphia Flyers have recalled defenseman Brandon Manning of Prince George from their AHL farm club, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.   The 24-year-old Manning spent two games with the Flyers earlier this season and picked up an assist. With the Phantoms this season, Manning has recorded six goals and 19 assists for 25 points, which is good for second on the team in scoring.  He ranks seventh among all AHL defensemen in scoring, and was selected to represent the Phantoms at the 2015 AHL All-Star Classic. Manning is a former Spruce King and Cariboo Cougar.

–The 25-4-1 Major Midget Cariboo Cougars play the Valley West Hawks Saturday and Sunday in Richmond.

–The UNBC Timberwolves have eight games left in the Canada West basketball regular season. The 5-7 UNBC men are a game out of a playoff spot in the Explorer Division while the Lady Twolves are out of contention at 1-11. UNBC will play Friday and Saturday at Mount Royal before hosting MacEwan January 30th and 31st.

–26-year-old Megan Heinicke of Prince George finished 23rd in her first-ever women’s 12.5 kilometre World Cup mass start race which was held in Ruhpolding, Germany.

–Prince George Ringette U10, U12 and U14 teams competed at the Friend of Ringette Tournament in Hinton. PG came first in U10, and third in the other two divisions.
