Over 78 communities across BC and the Yukon are celebrating Legion Week as a way to give back to the public.
The Prince George and Quesnel branches are getting in on the festivities a tad early with barbeques slated for this weekend.
Local Service Officer, John Scott explains what will be happening on Sunday in the Northern Capital.
“We’re going to have a barbeque with hot dogs and hamburgers and of course the kids are going to have things to do there. I know they were thinking of doing some games as I know they will be getting free rides and it should be a nice occasion for the community.”
“It’s a good opportunity for us to showcase the legion to the community and give back because the community is part of us really as they support us quite a bit and it’s also a good opportunity to see what the legion is about and they may want to become members.”
The Quesnel event is taking place on Saturday.
Legion Week is June 24th to the 30th.
