Destination BC is investing $40,000 to promote motorcycle touring in the north along Highway 16.
The initiative has support from tourism groups throughout the north including, the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George and the Regional District of Bulkley Nechako.
The funding will go towards a campaign for the Route 16 Motorcycle Touring Corridor.
“Motorcycle tourists are affluent, spend time in destinations, and are interested in other tourism offerings such as cultural attractions, culinary, and outdoor adventures like camping and fishing, so they are a captive audience,” said Erica Hummel, CEO of Tourism Prince George.
The Route 16 marketing project was originally started in 2017 and is led by Tourism Prince George, featuring both stops along the highway and side routes.
“The importance of promoting touring routes is essential to capture our target market tourism traffic through Prince George and Northern BC,” said Hummel.
