City on track with snow removal

The City of Prince George says they have been hitting their new snow removal targets.

But they say residents are still experiencing a learning curve when it comes to the new parking restrictions.

Associate Director of Public Works with the City, Gina Layte-Liston (pictured) says since January 1st, 40 vehicles have been towed and 115 ticketed for parking in snow clearing zones;

“We’ve had a few larger snowfalls this year and we’re finding that there’s still a large number of vehicles not understanding the parking restrictions,” she says. “So, that is the need for the towing and the ticketing. We hope to see those numbers decreasing in the next snowfall.”

Three new graders have been added to the cities fleet on a retainer basis to be used for big snowfalls, something Liston said has been a huge help.
