Trailer park occupants say the expansion will add to dispute

Residents of the North Park Heights trailer park on Hart Highway were at council this week expressing their concerns with the owner’s application to expand.

Hayden Teschke was one of several residents that came out to speak against the owners rezoning application saying they are already not having their needs met.

“I know residents who have lived there for 10 years that have problems after problems, and they are just ignored.”

Teschke said when he purchased the trailer in winter, he had no idea how bad the conditions were under the snow.

At the meeting residents listed issues like narrow lots, large potholes and a lack of street lights they say have been reported with no action.

“People’s stress levels are just through the roof. They ’can’t come home and just be happy where they live.”

Council approved the petition after L&M Engineering, the company doing the expansion, stated the new renovations would be addressing the issues as part of the project.

However, they were unable to give a timeline as to when residents concerns would be addressed.

“It’s going to create more problems for the owner because he ’won’t know what to do, he already does not know what to do. He does not help anyone.”

Multiple attempts were made to contact the owner of the park; however, he has not responded at this time.
