No need to sound the alarms.
The Prince George Airport will be conducting fire fighting training in the afternoons of both Monday and Tuesday this week, starting at approximately 1:30 p.m. each day.
During the training. fires will be lit and extinguished a short time later in the airport’s self-contained fire training facility under tightly controlled conditions. These fires will not pose any threat to the public’s safety or any threat to surrounding properties.
This comes in part of the annual fire training and certification that Prince George Airport rescue and firefighting staff go through.
The fires will produce dark smoke in the vicinity of the airport, which has caused concern to local residents in the past, however, the staff at YXS is reassuring the public of their safety.
