The College of New Caledonia (CNC) has hopped to the highest level of sponsorship with TEDxUNBC this Fall.

The post-secondary institution is investing $10,000 as the title sponsor for the public speaking event.

CNC President Henry Reiser hopes conversations will be sparked by this commitment.

“Reaching out to the community, letting the community understand who we are and what we’re doing, and at the same time, listening to what the community wants, what their needs are, and ensuring that we deliver on those needs.”

CNC’s goal is to also raise educational awareness through the talks’ theme of Dispelling Misconceptions.

To Reiser, the topic speaks volumes to the region.

“We’re a vibrant, healthy people who are very supportive and caring. We have incredible infrastructure, we have access to the outdoors, and we have access to very high levels of good healthcare and educational opportunities as well.”

He says he intends on extending invitations personally to students and faculty, as well as support for possible CNC speakers.

TEDxUNBC, scheduled for September 30th, has received 111 applications according to Producer Seth Jex.
